Life with an Intern

I peek inside, what
was mine, became ours, is yours.
Unneeded, but loved.

And I thought it was just brown

Over fashionably 10 year old: "You have beautiful hair. I want hair that color."

Favorite student of the year: "It is golden."

Chorus of brown nosers: "Yeah."

Over fashionably 10 year old: "It is just so silky."

Judge me all you want for letting the hair conversation infringe into a multiplication lesson. I am too busy swishing my beautifully golden, silky tresses to care.

Classroom in Perspective

Teacher:
Blank face, vacant eyes.
Frustration boiling. I
reached my breaking point.

Students:
Is she still talking?
Does she want us to answer?
Why is her face red?

Watching with Wonder, take 2

White, frosted, wetness
Scary roller coaster roads,
Thank you, Jack, thank you.

Watching with Wonder

White wetness outside,
Slowly freezing the road ways,
Why, Jack, am I here?

Haikus in Perspective

Happy Teacher:

Daydreaming, I am
background to heavy questions.
A Philosopher

Disgruntled, irritated teacher:

Children think too much,
creating complications,
Snot nosed know it all.

Paris on the Way to the Office

Two students on their way to the office. One wearing her pink Parisian pashmina, the other wearing Lisa Loeb's glasses:

Me: "Off to Paris ladies?"
LL: "Yes."

Later, during dismissal:

"How was Paris?"
Random student: "You went to Paris?'
LL: "Yes, on my way to the office. I had great Italian food there."

Terrible Teacher

While my students buzz share their daily reading expereinces, I am passing notes to the world. It is hard to teach reading when you would rather be reading yourself.
